Growing tiny greens into big demand

project overview
Righteous Greens came to Ampersand with a small product and a big opportunity: help more people understand the everyday value of microgreens. As fresh, clean, nutrient-dense foods were gaining momentum, microgreens were still often seen as garnish instead of a meaningful ingredient.

Challenge
How do you make a tiny green feel like a big deal?
Microgreens may be small, but their nutritional value is anything but. The challenge was to move them out of the “decoration” category and into the daily habits of people who care about what they eat. We needed to create a brand that felt fresh, approachable, and useful across more than just salads.

solution
We gave microgreens more ways to show up
Ampersand positioned Righteous Greens as a more nutritious alternative to lettuce, an easy topper for almost any meal, and a simple add-in for smoothies. From there, we built the brand identity, including logo, packaging, sales POP, product naming, and a 70s-inspired creative platform.
The product line leaned into the personality of the brand with names like Righteous Rainbow Mix, Groovy Smoothie Blend, and Radical Radish. The tagline Soul-To-Bowl helped bring the strategy to life, while clear packaging let the natural color and texture of the greens do the selling.

A small brand that quickly outgrew its roots
After launching at local farmers markets, Righteous Greens started building a loyal following with food lovers, chefs, restaurateurs, and local farm-to-table partners. Ampersand also encouraged the owners to expand the brand online with meal ideas and recipes, making the product feel easier to use beyond the market stand.
Before long, Righteous Greens was selling out every week. Within six months, the company outgrew its original space and expanded production to keep up with demand. The owners are now working to franchise the business model, giving other small farmers access to the growing process, seed blends, quality standards, and brand system.
